General Responsibilities: The Lender is responsible for soliciting, negotiating, underwriting and coordinating the closing of consumer, residential, construction, equipment, commercial building and business loans in compliance with the Bank’s lending policies and procedures. Consumer & residential loan requests may be referred to other Lenders. Promotes quality loan customer service and related activities; engages in business development opportunities; develops good customer relationships; and markets and cross sells other banking products. The position is responsible for attaining established individual and Bank lending goals though active participation in officer call program. Assures compliance with all Bank policies and procedures, as well as, all applicable state and federal banking regulations.

Education/Training: Bachelor’s degree (BA) or equivalent from a college or university and/or 10+ years of related experience and/or training; or the equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: At least 10 years in a related position in a banking environment. Work related experience should consist of a financial analyzing or lending background. Educational experience, through in-house training sessions, formal school or financial industry related curriculum, should be business or financial industry related.

Required Certification/Licenses: Registered with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry as a mortgage loan originator in accordance with the Secure and Fair Enforcement for Mortgage Licensing Act (the “SAFE Act”).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office suite of products (including Word & Excel)
  • Proficient skills in computer terminal and personal computer operation; host computer system; and word processing, spreadsheet and core processing system.
  • Proficient reading, writing, grammar, mathematical skills.
  • Proficient interpersonal relations and communicative abilities.
  • Superior internal and external customer service skills.
  • Capable of understanding complex instructions and procedures. Memory skills for standard operating procedures.
  • Thorough understanding of underwriting policies and procedures, as well as, guidelines and regulatory updates.
  • Basic knowledge of commercial, construction, real estate and consumer mortgage loan origination, underwriting, documentation and processing.
  • Basic experience, knowledge and training in financial statement and tax return analysis typically resulting from a combination of education in accounting, financial and/or credit analysis or related areas.
  • Ability to develop marketing and business development skills with customers.
  • High degree of attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision while performing duties.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills. Ability to coordinate workflow and handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to deal with difficult problems involving multiple facets and variables in non-standardized situations.
