Community

Putting people first

As a community bank, we are dedicated to supporting our neighbors and those in need!

We’ve been serving the people, businesses and nonprofit organizations of Maryland for more than a century — starting with Chestertown in Kent County in 1910 and growing to include Queen Anne’s and Talbot Counties over the past several decades.

Donations

We financially support a number of community initiatives and nearly every non profit organization in the cities we serve. The bank’s total gifts, donations and sponsorships was almost $41,000 in 2022 alone!

Here are a few examples:

  • Community Events
  • Community Organizations
  • Youth Programming
  • 4-H and other Ag programs
  • Youth Sports
  • Education Initiatives

Scholarships

Each year, we offer The Peoples Bank, Fleetwood Insurance and BGV Insurance Senior Scholarship to high-talent, high-need students. These $1,000.00 scholarships are intended to help college freshmen with their first year. Two scholarships will be awarded to two students in each of the three counties we serve: Kent County, Queen Anne’s County and Talbot County.

Keep an eye on our blog for announcements related to these scholarships!

Sponsorships

The Peoples Bank has sponsored hundreds of initiatives and events over the past century. Here are a few of the big ones:

  • A Dickens of a Christmas
  • Chestertown Tea Party Festival
  • Legacy Day
  • Chestertown Jazz Festival
  • Holiday parades throughout our communities

Volunteering

Just about every one of our team members are involved with some group or another, including membership in various civic and philanthropic organizations. Some of us even serve on the boards of the local nonprofit organizations that serve our communities.

You’ll likely find our volunteers at any number of community events throughout the year!
