Michael Sprouse Joins The Peoples Bank as Chief Retail Banking Officer

The Peoples Bank is pleased to announce that Michael Sprouse has joined the Bank as Senior Vice President and Chief Retail Banking Officer. With over 30 years of experience in the banking industry, much of that centered around consumer lending and loan administration, Sprouse spent the last 16 years at Harford Bank in Aberdeen, Maryland as the Senior Vice President of Consumer Lending.

In his 30 years as a banker, Sprouse has furthered his education multiple times. In 2011, he graduated from The American Bankers Association Stonier Graduate School of Banking, which included an extra year of training in the American Bankers Association program to achieve a Wharton School of Business certificate. Sprouse is also a 2015 graduate of the Harford Leadership Academy, and a 2019 graduate of the Maryland Bankers Association Emerging Leader Program.

Sprouse’s experience in community banking as well as community service, including the Aberdeen Rotary, St. Joan of Arc School Board, and the Welcome One Homeless Shelter, has taught him much about the role small banks play in the community. “It truly is amazing how much of an impact a bank can have in the community when time is taken to understand and listen to the needs of its customers,” Sprouse commented. “The relationships that are built through excellent customer service help the bank grow while expanding our ability to serve the community.”

President and CEO of The Peoples Bank, Scott Sturgill, couldn’t be more pleased to have Sprouse on board. “The Bank will benefit tremendously from Mike being a part of the team. He brings years of experience in community banking and will help our lending team expand its reach even further into the retail market,” said Sturgill. “Increasing retail loans in our communities and those surrounding us will help to grow the local economy and benefit local retailers. All of us at The Peoples Bank look forward to working with Mike as he achieves great things.”

With seven branches spread throughout Kent, Queen Anne’s and Talbot Counties, The Peoples Bank opened its doors in 1910, and has provided local communities with 111 years of excellent customer service and quality financial products.
